Samuel Melot

Hey Y’all!! “Oklahoma Accent Stressed”

I am originally from the small town of Jones, Oklahoma where my family and I lived on 80 acres of land they had since before I was born. I am very close with my family members because nearly all of my father’s side of the family lived on this land as well, which was known to most as Melot Hill. My family owns an antique rifle shop company called The Rifle Shoppe. They make just about anything from a barrel on a stick up to the civil war period. They have made equipment or guns for movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Hamburger Hill. We recently moved to Wellston, Oklahoma 3 years ago due to a turnpike that is being placed where we used to live.

By a true blessing in disguise we were able to find another 80 acre plot of land in Wellston, Oklahoma. It was the longest summer of our lives moving all the equipment from the shop as well as 3 other houses, but God truly provided. I care about my family a great deal and it has always been stressed to me the importance of being present for anyone and everyone who is in need.

I am a positive person and do my best to look for opportunities to serve others in whichever way I can. Not only do I have a passion for fitness, but also for Jesus. He’s changed me for the best and still continuing to do so. I have been asked by some to acquire a role as a youth pastor and hope to help in whichever I can. I am a very energetic individual and I always enjoy making people smile. I am looking forward to this summer at MedX and hope to help the very best I can.

Nik Buchman

My name is Nik Buchman and I am from Trevor, Wisconsin. I just graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in exercise sports science and I plan on applying to Physical Therapy school in the near future.

I live with my mom, stepdad and 10 year old sister in Wisconsin and enjoy being outdoors and visiting with family and friends. We live on a river so I do a lot of kayaking trips as well as boating on the lakes during the summer. Sports have always been a huge part of my life, as I grew up playing basketball, baseball, football and volleyball. My favorite teams to watch are the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers.

I have wanted to be a physical therapist since junior year of high school because of my passion for sports as well as my love for getting to know new people and helping them.

I cannot wait to explore Colorado and see what Estes Park has to offer!I look forward to getting to know everybody at MedX and can’t wait to meet everyone!

Lindsey Schmidt

My name is Lindsey Schmidt and I was born and raised in O’Fallon, Missouri. I attend the University of Central Missouri and will be a senior in the fall. I am majoring in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Physical therapy while minoring in fitness and wellness along with psychology. My plan is to apply for physical therapy school in August and hopefully continue my education at a different university starting the summer of 2021.

My college is about three hours from my hometown where my sister and parents still reside. My sister is a nurse at a hospital in Lake St. Louis and my parents are both teachers (mom second grade and my dad high school physics). Although it was hard to leave home when I was 18, I was able to learn and grow at school while learning about my passion for the world of physical therapy.

In high school I was on the color guard team for all four years and one semester in college. My other hobbies include hanging out with my friends, watching new tv shows, hiking, and skiing whenever I can.

Human movement and exercise sparked my interest when I personally attended physical therapy at age 14, ever since then the subject has always fascinated me. This internship has always been a dream of mine because I love the beautiful state of Colorado and all it has to offer. I cannot wait to learn and explore more while expanding my knowledge of health and fitness community.

Lauren Davis

My name is Lauren Davis and I am from Avon, Indiana. I am currently a senior at Ball State University with a major in Exercise Science: Pre-Occupational Therapy and a minor in Autism Spectrum Disorders. After interning at MedX this summer, I will be returning to Indiana to start my occupational therapy doctorate degree at the University of Indianapolis.

I love spending time with my family, especially my grandma who will be 96 in July! I have many siblings who I am close with and love to make each other laugh. The best part of being in quarantine was coming home to my family and babysitting my 1-year old niece!

I was a competitive dancer for 15 years, ranging from ballet, lyrical, jazz, and hip hop. In college, my passion for exercise and fitness has grown tremendously, but with dance engraved in my soul, you will probably find me doing little dance moves all the time!

This is my first time in Colorado, and it is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! I can’t wait to enjoy the mountains and get to know Estes Park!
