Happy New Year… the First Grade Advice!

Hi, this is Spencer and it’s my mom that writes these articles every week and I’m in first grade. My mom talked to my class one day about how she uses writing at her job. She told us that everyone uses writing at MedX by keeping their workout charts. It’s good to keep workout charts because you can see how healthy you are getting and it might make you “more skinny” if you do write in your chart, so writing in your chart is good. She also told us that she uses writing for her article every week. Her article tells everyone healthy stuff and that’s a good thing, because if you know more healthy stuff you will get healthier.

My mom asked my class to write about what “being healthy” means to us, since we were practicing writing skills and talking to professionals about writing in the grown-up world. She asked us to answer this question, “How can you stay healthy in the New Year?” So here is what my class thinks about staying healthy:

(Please know that phonics is the thing of today and I’ve I decided to leave original spelling with my favorite first graders. But don’t worry! I know that phonics works! My middle school kid is now spelling really well! Thank goodness, because when he was in first grade I didn’t know that exercise was allowed to be written as exrsiz or vegetables written like vechtbles. Wow, that’s just how it sounds, the English language… it’s so confusing!)

You can stay healthy by etn vechtbels and runen on a chreadmll. – Spencer

You can stay healthy by running and eating botaydos (potatoes). – Matthew

You can stay healthy in by eating karits and bnans. – Miles

You can stay healthy be gres (grapes) and eat bacle (broccoli). – Diana

You can stay heathy by etng pers and bocole.- Jacub

You can stay healthy by edeing kerits. Golanni

You can stay healthy by eling brocule and orjes (oranges). – Michaela

You can stay healthy by eting broco and frot (fruit). Olso running on tredmill is healthy. - Devin

I think the kids in my class are very smart about healthy stuff. My favorite green stuff to eat is broccoli and then 2nd is asparagus, but I try not to eat too many green things., but my mom makes me! Really my favorite food is Doritos (shhhh, don’t tell anyone!), but they are not green! So mom makes me run around if I eat a lot of Doritos. Sometimes it’s just easier to eat my vegetables then to run around enough for Doritos. If you don’t exercise or eat your vegetables it might be good to take some vitamins, they can help you stay healthy too. I think that’s about it for staying healthy next year. If you need to know more, then just read my mom’s article every week, she’s pretty smart about healthy stuff too! Or you can just come and ask my class! ‘Cause we’re really smart!

We hope you have a wonderful new year and a healthy one too!
